Racing for a reason
I've always loved motorized fun. A go-kart as a kid, Dirtbikes, many different off-road vehicles, and now car racing. I always get asked how I got into racing. Here's the schpeel...
My racing story:
Long-ish story short, I sold a small business a few years back and had some money that didn't need to be used for anything in particular. My amazing wife Katelyn suggested that I buy a "fun car." I had always purchased well-used vehicles and hadn't ever bought anything really nice for myself. How could I say "No?" After a search for something exotic-ish, reliable-ish, and not too flashy (that's just not me) I settled on an Audi R8. A V10, 6-speed manual, Suzuka gray piece of exquisite German engineering that's I'll never let go of.

about 3 years into ownership, Katelyn, once again being her amazing self, got me a weekend at the local racetrack with our friend who is a racecar instructor for my birthday. After 3 days of driving my R8 how it was actually meant to be driven, I was HOOKED. But I didn't want to beat-up my pristine car on the track, so I did the only reasonable thing. I bought a different German car that was modified for moderate track use while still being comfortable on the street.

My new-to-me 2008 Porsche Cayman S drove me deeper into this new addiction. After a year of training monthly with the local NASA (National Auto Sports Association) club, I earned my time-trials race license. Unfortunately as a track AND street car, the Cayman would never be very competitive in time trials. Sooo, I did the only reasonable thing again. I bought a different German car. A racecar. A factory racecar. It arrived as a gray canvas for me to design the ultimate livery for, which ended up being a racecar version of the graphics I put on my work trucks.

The Audi RS3 LMS leaves Audi's factory as a front wheel drive track monster, purpose-built for a specific race series. Zero carpet, zero creature comforts, zero chance of becoming street legal. All racecar.....Cue an even deeper level of addiction. In the 2024 season, I learned the car, learned more advanced driving skills, and had a blast. In the 2025 season with my son Deacon as my pit crew, I earned a regional first place finish overall in my time trials class.
The new reason:
Which leads us to now. For 2026, I've decided to add another fun aspect to this racing season. For every first place finish I'm able earn on a raceday, my business, Prestige Roofing, will be donating $250 to an awesome charity called Koins for Kenya. This non-profit provides college scholarships to students and builds schools, toilet facilities, and water cisterns in villages across Kenya where they are so needed. A friend of mine who's heavily involved introduced me to it a couple of years ago. Every penny they raise goes directly to building these facilities. All leadership and staff of the charity are volunteers and there is almost zero overhead. To see him talk about the kids who are so excited and grateful to have a school building is inspiring.
I'll be updating this page throughout the 2026 season with my results so you can see how I'm doing.
2026 results so far:
- March 28th 1st $250 to Koins for Kenya!
- March 29th 1st $250 to Koins for Kenya!
