A Legacy of Roofing in Utah

For over two decades in the Utah roofing industry, I have been committed to one thing: doing roofing the right way.

But this story didn’t start in Utah. It started in the Pacific Northwest, where my father built a roofing company that served builders and homeowners for over 35 years. He was known for doing things differently, including offering a lifetime workmanship warranty on all of his roofs.  The way he ran his company, the quality he insisted on from his employees, and the attention he gave to his clients reflected this lifetime commitment he offered.  

My name is Tyler Ely, and I grew up in that environment.

I got my start working for my dad as soon as I could carry around a bundle of shingles, helping organize the yard at his office, load materials, and help around the job sites. Over time, that turned into running crews, becoming an estimator, and learning not just roofing, but how to run a business with integrity. Those years shaped how I show up in this industry and helped me realize the level of responsibility that comes with putting a roof over someone’s head.

That foundation in Oregon carried forward into Utah.

What began as Prestige Roofing and Exteriors has now grown into a group of companies that I'd like to say are a shining example of what the standard of a roofing company should be across the industry. And just like my father did, I stand behind my work with a lifetime workmanship warranty. As far as I know, we are the only company in Utah willing to commit to our clients with this level of confidence in our work.

Some people might call that risky. I call it doing the job right the first time.

Over the years, that commitment has turned into a genuine passion for the craft. I’ve spent countless hours studying materials, systems, and installation methods across every type of roofing. I’m proud to frequently call myself a "roofing nerd."

Today, that passion lives through three aligned companies working together seamlessly: Prestige Roofing and Exteriors, Metal Roofscapes of Utah, and Utah Sheet Metal.

Individually, each serves a distinct purpose. Together, they create a level of quality and capability that is unmatched in Utah.

Metal Roofscapes of Utah represents the next evolution.

Created to serve high-end homeowners and projects that demand more, Metal Roofscapes focuses on premium roofing systems, particularly standing seam and other styles of metal roofs, along with other high-end architectural applications such as cedar shakes/shingles, cement tile, natural slate roofs, composite shake/slate products, and other roof sytems that require the highest level of expertise and detailed installation to get just right.  

This is where design meets durability. Where roofing becomes part of the identity of a home.

Supplying the Industry with Utah Sheet Metal

Utah Sheet Metal lets us be in more control of the quality we stand behind.

By bringing fabrication of metal roof systems and custom flashings in-house, we’ve eliminated one of the biggest limitations in roofing: dependency on outside suppliers.

We manufacture custom metal roofing packages for our jobs as well as for other contractors, along with precision-built flashings, chimney caps, and a wide range of standing seam profiles. Whether it’s a typical roof flashing or a completely custom solution, we have the capability to produce it with accuracy and consistency.

This doesn’t just benefit our own projects. It allows us to serve other contractors and elevate the quality of roofing across the entire industry.
